Renaissance English Drama: An Introduction

An introduction to Renaissance English Drama has to cover enough material to fill one, if not many, whole books. There are several wonderful works available, and it is recommended you check them out at a library or bookstore near you. However, in the interest of the student or casual reader, a cursory introduction has here been attempted. The introduction is intended to give the reader a general overview and introduction to the subject, and we hope it fulfills its purpose.

Introductory Chapters:
English Drama: From Medieval to Renaissance

The Sociopolitical Climate in Elizabethan England

Elizabethan World View

Elizabethan Playhouses

Elizabethan Staging Conventions
